Privacy policy
Last updated: July 2026.
This policy explains how MS Electrical collects, uses and protects your personal information when you contact us, book a PAT test, or use this website. MS Electrical is a sole trader business run by Mike Stevens, based in Banbury, Oxfordshire. For anything about your data, contact us on 07590 405169 or at pat@mikestevens.uk.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to quote for work, arrange a visit, carry out testing and keep the required records:
- Your name and contact details (phone and email).
- The address where the work is to be done, and any access notes you give us.
- Details of the job, such as the type of premises and the rough number of items.
- Records of the work we carry out, including your test certificate and itemised report.
- Basic technical information when you use the website (see Cookies below).
How we use it, and our lawful basis
Under UK data protection law we rely on the following:
- To perform our contract with you:to give you a quote, arrange and carry out the test, issue your certificate and take payment.
- Our legitimate interests:to respond to enquiries, keep records of the work done, and run the business day to day.
- Legal obligations:to keep records we are required to keep, and to meet health, safety and insurance requirements.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information or use it for third-party marketing. We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf to run the website and booking system:
- Amazon Web Services:website hosting, the booking system and sending our emails.
- Google:our calendar, which the booking system uses to check availability and add your appointment.
- Cloudflare:anti-spam protection on our forms.
- Microsoft:website analytics (Microsoft Clarity), to see how the site is used.
We may also share information where we are required to by law, or with our insurers if a claim arises.
Where your data is held
Your information is stored on secure servers provided by the companies above. Some of them may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, they are covered by appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
We keep certificates and job records for around 18 months, so we can support you, meet compliance requirements and deal with any query about the work. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept only for as long as we need to deal with them. After that, information is deleted.
Cookies
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how people move through them, so we can improve it. Clarity sets cookies and may record anonymised usage and interaction data. Our contact and booking forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent spam, which may set a functional cookie needed for that check. We do not use advertising cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete your information, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable form. To make a request, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypting it in transit and limiting who can access it. Your certificate and records are kept securely.
